A Compassion-Driven Approach

As a coach, my style is compassion-driven, with a strong focus on individual diversity, including cultural sensitivity and neurodiversity. I believe that each individual is unique and deserves to be treated with respect, empathy, and understanding. I also believe that direct, open, and honest communication is essential in building a healthy coaching relationship.

My Background & Values

✴️As a coach with a focus on cultural sensitivity, my personal experiences living in 10 different cities across 4 continents have shaped my approach to coaching. Living in different parts of the world has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of different cultures, beliefs, and values.

Growing up in Japan, I was exposed to the importance of respecting hierarchy and group harmony, which has influenced my coaching style to emphasize collaboration and working towards shared goals. In contrast, living in North America and Denmark, I learned the value of individualism, innovation, and self-expression, which has influenced my coaching approach to encourage clients to embrace their unique qualities and pursue their individual goals.

Furthermore, my experiences living in China have taught me about the importance of family, tradition, and filial piety, which has influenced my coaching style to consider the impact of cultural values on clients' personal and professional goals. I believe that understanding and respecting cultural differences is essential in building trust and creating a safe and supportive coaching environment.

My experiences living in different cities have also given me a firsthand understanding of the challenges of adapting to new environments, whether it be language barriers, unfamiliar customs, or adjusting to different cultural norms.

As a coach, I strive to create a space where my clients feel comfortable expressing their concerns and working collaboratively to overcome these challenges.

✴️As a coach who values neurodiversity, my personal experiences with family members who have Asperger's and friends who have ADD have influenced my approach to coaching. Neurodiversity refers to the idea that neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergent conditions, are natural variations in the human brain rather than disorders that need to be cured or fixed.

Growing up with family members who have Asperger's syndrome, I learned firsthand about the challenges and strengths that come with this condition. People with Asperger's may have difficulty with social communication and understanding nonverbal cues, but they may also have incredible attention to detail, memory, and focus. As a coach, I recognize the importance of understanding my client's unique strengths and challenges, including those related to neurodiversity.

In addition, having friends with ADD has taught me about the importance of recognizing the diverse needs of my clients. Individuals with ADD may struggle with focus and organization, but they may also be creative, energetic, and quick to make connections.

As a coach, I strive to create a coaching environment that is supportive of all clients, including those with diverse neurological profiles.

I believe that understanding and embracing neurodiversity is essential in creating a coaching approach that is inclusive, supportive, and empowering for all clients. By recognizing and valuing the strengths and challenges that come with neurodivergent conditions, I hope to empower my clients to achieve their goals and to feel comfortable expressing themselves freely and openly.

Coaching Style

One of the core values of my coaching practice is compassion. Compassion means seeing things from the client's perspective, understanding their struggles, and being supportive and non-judgmental. As a coach, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment for my clients, where they feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. I also believe that a compassionate approach can help my clients build self-confidence and resilience, which can be essential in achieving their goals.

Direct, open, and honest communication is also an essential part of my coaching style. I believe that open communication is necessary to build trust and establish a healthy coaching relationship. As a coach, I encourage my clients to express themselves freely and openly, without fear of judgment. I also believe that honesty is critical in helping my clients achieve their goals. If something is not working, I will be upfront with my clients and work with them to find a better approach.

Authenticity is another important value that I bring to my coaching practice. I believe in being myself and showing up as my genuine self with my clients. This means being transparent and honest about my own experiences, struggles, and strengths. By modeling authenticity, I hope to inspire my clients to be true to themselves and embrace their unique qualities.

Finally, I value the power of intuition in guiding the coaching process. Intuitive coaching allows me to tap into my own inner guidance system to better understand the needs, goals, and challenges of my clients. By tuning in to my clients' energy and emotions, I can gain a deeper understanding of their unique perspectives and help them achieve their goals with greater clarity and purpose.

Coaching Techniques (a few to mention...)

As a coach, I believe in using a variety of coaching techniques to help my clients achieve their goals and reach their full potential. One of the approaches I use is Appreciative Inquiry, which is a positive approach to change management that focuses on identifying and amplifying the strengths and successes of individuals. By using Appreciative Inquiry, my clients can shift their focus from problems to solutions, and approach change from a positive and proactive perspective.

Another approach I use is motivational interviewing, which is a person-centered approach to help clients explore their ambivalence and build motivation to make positive changes. By using motivational interviewing, I can help my clients tap into their intrinsic motivation and make sustainable changes that align with their values and goals. By combining these coaching techniques, I can offer a holistic and customized coaching experience that empowers my clients to achieve their goals and build fulfilling lives.
